Driving Experience
My friends, the Penn family, and my own family, consisting of four adults and five children, spent an incredibly wonderful weekend in Lake Norman, North Carolina. The lake scenery was beautiful, and the water was crystal clear. Looking at the trees and houses along the shores from the center of the lake, it felt like being transported back to my childhood, when my parents took me and my siblings out on a boat, creating precious and joyful memories.

Every time I sat in the captain’s seat, I felt reassured. The high-back swiveling port bucket seat not only conforms to ergonomic design but also has soft leather upholstery. This provided complete relaxation for my back and buttocks. The luxurious and soft sports steering wheel is also to my liking. Comfortable to the touch and responsive steering, like driving on water, easy and pleasant.
I particularly liked the object tray and drink holders in the helm area. There were two of them conveniently placed, so neither Penn nor I had to worry about going hungry during the drive.

As I turned on the engine, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement. We opted for the Mercury 115 ELPT FourStroke Command Thrust motor, and while it may not have the highest horsepower, its power delivery is smooth. As I increased the throttle, I could feel the boat gradually picking up speed in a gentle manner.
I have to say, the combination of the Nose cone & motor pod wave/spray deflectors and the 4:2 ratio no-feedback steering for responsive handling is nothing short of perfect. Steering the boat was incredibly cool, smooth, and effortless. Watching the spray form a perfect arc on the water’s surface got me pumped up.
Additionally, the surrounding brown-tinted windshield proved to be highly practical. It effectively reduced the glare from direct sunlight and reflections on the water, keeping my visibility clear at all times.
Of course, if the next version of the Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 DLX were to update the dashboard, I think it would make the pontoon boat even more competitive. As I have a bit of nearsightedness, the numbers on the dashboard were a bit small for me. If I sat up straight, I might have had some difficulty reading them.
Overall, driving the 2023 Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 DLX was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. It was not only easy to maneuver but also designed with thoughtful details that catered to the comfort and experience of drivers like myself.
Seating Experience
Whenever it was Penn’s turn to drive, I couldn’t resist lying down in the bow lounge area and basking in the sun. I don’t know if it was thanks to Penn’s skill or the inherent stability of the Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 DLX itself, but even during acceleration, I felt remarkably stable without needing to hold onto the small armrests on the seats.
