Overall Impression
My friends and I are graduating and about to enter the workforce from campus, and before that identity change comes, we all look forward to one more trip to embrace the new life that is fast approaching. It was a good opportunity for bass fishing recently and the weather was perfect for going out, so we agreed to go fishing at the small lake next to the school. Not only was it close to the salt and freshwater estuary where many bass like to return, but it was also conveniently located close to us.
Once our idea was finalized, we immediately set out to implement it. We quickly rented a practical Motocraft Angler 470 in the neighborhood, smaller and easier to operate. The boat did not have a console in the cabin, but relied on an outboard motor at the stern to power the boat.
With a brief training session from the charter company, we all quickly got the hang of it. There weren’t many fishing chairs in the cabin, but the spacious deck provided enough room for us to ride. The boat was a novel experience for most of us, and Dean was the only one who was experienced. The three of us who didn’t have any boat experience took turns trying it out, while Dean was happy to escort us around.
Driving Experience
I took the lead on the boat and sat in the captain’s chair at the stern, controlling the boat’s direction via the lever on the outboard motor. Of course, with a maximum horsepower of 40HP, the overall speed of the boat was not too fast, but the snowy white waves across the stern were still enough to make the boat feel good.
Thanks to the lake itself, there were no sharp bends, and the boat turned effortlessly. Eugene and Jason had been waiting for a long time and were eager to try out the boat. I handed over the control stick to Jason.
Fishing Feeling
The boat soon arrived near its destination with the three of us taking turns driving it, and then switched to the trolling motor on the bow to slowly approach the fish. The electrically powered trolling motor docking accurately with a silent effect.
We took out our own rods from the rod storage box and used a simulated lure, minnow, to attract the bass. This material is like a small disoriented fish in the water and can be a deadly lure for the bass.
As expected, a fish was soon hooked and I placed the fish in a pre-prepared bucket of water. This boat was not set up with space in mind to arrange live well, so you need to bring your own container for the trophy.
Specification
The Motocraft Angler 470 is a compact bass fishing boat that is still relatively complete in terms of basic boat performance.
The rudder steering used in the basic configuration can easily control the direction of the boat through the control lever, and the boat can also support the option if you prefer the console mode of operation. However, the console setting will occupy the already insufficient cabin space to a certain extent, and the passengers’ experience will be affected.
The large fishing platform at the bow and stern of the boat is equipped with a spacious under-deck space and a 220 cm lockable gear compartment, providing ample storage space for various fishing gear and life-saving equipment. In the meantime, thanks to the overall shape of the boat, the boat can easily glide on the water, while maintaining considerable stability in turns and breaking waves.
Other versions
If you have your heart set on a Motocraft branded boat, but tend to prefer a larger size, then this Motocraft Angler 500 may be able to meet your needs.

- The basic layout of the ship is simple, and there is more room to play for subsequent customization.
- The ample storage space under the bow and stern decks is sufficient to accommodate a variety of fishing gear and life-saving equipment.
- Vinyl-based carpets are not only easy to maintain, but are also corrosion- and water-resistant.
- The trolling motor on the bow of the ship can accurately dock the ship at the target location.
- The 5052H34 aluminum hull is durable and offers good fuel efficiency.
What we don’t like about it
- The function of the boat is relatively basic and simple, and some of the important features for fishing such as live well system is not arranged.
- Probably due to the limited space inside the boat and less fishing chairs set, the angler’s experience may get affected.
- The later additions and upgrades to the vessel’s various features require more capital investment.

Of course, as long as you use the bass boat correctly, then its safety is still guaranteed to some extent. After all, the structure of its hull will be smoother in the waves compared to jon boat.
2. Are bass tracker boats all aluminum?
It is not always the case. In addition to aluminum boats, there is also a fiberglass boat, but aluminum boats are a little more commonly used. Nitro Z18 vs Motocraft Angler 470
The Nitro Z18 is a much better fisherman than the Motocraft Angler 470. On the one hand, the 30 gallon live well system located under the rear deck can fully ensure that all kinds of trophies are active. Even after a long trip, it is still the same as when you just caught it. On the other hand, the larger boat size of the Nitro Z18 means plenty of storage space, and the wide front and rear decks provide plenty of room for more gear and equipment.

Triton 18 TX vs Motocraft Angler 470
Do you prefer a boat with steering at the helm, or do you favor the various operations of the console? If you choose the latter, then this Triton 18 TX can meet your needs.
The Triton 18 TX has a well-equipped console on the right side of the boat to provide the skipper with a better driving experience. The new luxurious three-spoke steering wheel feels great in the hand, and the SeaStar® hydraulic steering system ensures smooth and easy steering. The fiberglass cover and removable windshield on the center console provide some protection for the console and the captain at the wheel.
In addition, the space under the console is well arranged, and the captain’s legs can be stretched to their fullest. There is also hot foot set up, and the throttle control of the foot can relax the hand to some extent.
Of course, the Triton 18 TX is also well thought out when it comes to some detailed settings. The cooler under the steps provides passengers with a cold drink even in the summer heat. Even if the boat is bumpy, which is certainly not the case, the handles next to each seat ensure the stability of the passengers.
The completion of the Triton 18 TX facilities has brought about a price increase, and a price difference of about six times has to make people think about it when buying.
