SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC is a Jon boat equipped for fishing, hunting and other field activities, and it has been a striking boat since the day it was released.
The boat’s excellent hull performance and the notable variety of fittings have increased the boat’s attractiveness even more. This, coupled with the jet tunnel hull design, allows the boat to travel in extremely shallow water.
If you are looking for a Jon boat with similar features, feel free to learn a little more about this boat if you are interested.
Below I will give a full rundown of the boat in terms of how it feels to drive, how it feels to fish, and specification details.
Driving Experience
I am a newbie in the activity of fishing. Even though I don’t have a lot of experience so far, I have fallen in love with this activity. Perhaps it is difficult for people who do not fish to understand why fishing is so attractive.
From my point of view, fishing can bring me a sense of accomplishment and a desire to conquer, and every activity is full of unknowns and uncertainties.
Additionally, fishing is an opportunity to relax and cozy up, release stress, and put down the phone to focus on something that is also blissful. I’m so enamored with the joy fishing brings me that I often go out fishing with my fishing buddies, and they all laugh about my high-energy level.
My fishing partner for the day was Simon, an experienced and seasoned angler. I was sure it would be a rewarding trip with him, since Simon’s boat for the trip was the SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC, a boat that is as reliable as him.
Simon stopped by to pick me up and drove me out to a familiar body of water, and we worked together to get the boat moving and then got in and out of the boat in no time. It was a quick move to get aboard and ready to go.
After all, with the recent midday heat, the fish were diving deeper, so we needed to get moving before the temperature rises. With Simon’s skillful maneuvering, the boat was soon headed towards its destination.
Cockpit Details
I walked around the spacious deck and showed great interest in steering the boat. Simon saw my intention and introduced me to the cockpit of the boat and promised me a return trip to give me a taste of what it’s like.
“The SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC is an old buddy of mine and I know it very well. The boat is very easy to drive and operate. You can achieve the control of the whole boat through a central aluminum console. The steering wheel used to steer this boat with a console is much less labor intensive and convenient compared to steering with a tiller.
In addition, there are no seats behind the console on this boat, but of course if you want seats, you can customize a folding leather seat specifically when purchasing the boat. Not only does the lack of a seat minimize the amount of space taken up, but standing up to steer the boat also gives me a higher view of the water around me, making it easier to focus on while steering, and is much more user-friendly in terms of driving safety.” Simon spoke eloquently about his prized vessel.
Fishing Experience
Under Simon’s skillful steering, we soon arrived at the familiar waters. Thanks to the SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC’s flat-bottomed design, the boat was able to remain stable under a series of maneuvers by both Simon and me.
Simon chose a camouflage color for the hull paint to hide the boat in the wild and to minimize the disturbance of bright colors to the fish. With all the preparations out of the way, I sat on the foam-filled rear seat and waited patiently for the fish to take the bait.
The scenery around me was beautiful, every visit was different and it was truly an opportunity to get closer to nature. I kept an eye on the water from time to time, a suitable reason for exercising my patience, away from the frenzy and hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Finally, I waited for my first trophy, just a common small fish, but it was alive. For a novice like me, any trophy is enough to keep me happy for a while. I put the fish in the live well below the bow deck, where the inflatable design would keep my baby alive.
But there was a little hiccup when removing the fish from the hook. the fish struggled too hard causing my hand to slip and miss the catch, and the fish slid down to the deck.
Luckily, the boat had enough beam height not to let the fish jump out of the boat. Plus the diamond patterned deck design was guaranteed to be non-slip.
Specification
The SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC is a reasonable boat in terms of construction and performance, and at 18 feet in length, it can accommodate up to 11 people at a time, making it a medium to large boat in the Jon boat category.
The center console makes it easy for the captain to navigate and operate the boat, and there are some simple gauges on the console that help the captain keep track of all the parameters of the boat. The center console takes up some space, but it’s a good fit for a large boat with ample dimensions.
While this boat is not considered very luxurious in its basic configuration, it leaves plenty of room for customization of the boat. The bow is equipped with brackets for a trolling motor.
If you are a more professional angler or want a more specialized configuration, a trolling motor is the choice of most people, and the brackets are reserved to facilitate the installation of subsequent equipment.
There are also front and rear decks as seat brackets, you can selectively install fishing chairs according to specific needs.
Other Version
If you are still somewhat skeptical about the SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC and would like to know some basic information about other types of boats, then I’ll introduce you to another boat in the series, the SeaArk 1860 MV JT, which I hope will help you.
SeaArk 1860 MV JT
From the model name, it is clear that the SeaArk 1860 MV JT is 18 feet in length compared to the SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC, but the former’s bottom width, 60 inches, is smaller.
Accordingly, the 1860 MV JT has been downsized in beam length and side depth. In terms of power settings, the maximum 65HP horsepower rating is also hard to beat the other boat’s 80HP engine setup.
As of space layout, the SeaArk 1860 MV JT is more concise, with slightly less space to dispense with the center console design and further reduce the center beam.
For those who prefer plenty of space for additional features or fishing gear, there is more freedom in the space arrangement. Of course, the live well system has also been scaled back in the 1860 MV JT’s reduced configuration.
What do we like about it
- The aluminum center console facilitates better control of the boat’s movement by the captain and is safer.
- The 18-foot-long boat length is capable of accommodating up to 11 people at a time, making it suitable for events with a larger number of people.
- The bottom of the boat is relatively flat, providing stability during navigation.
- The jet tunnel hull is designed and constructed to facilitate water entry for jet outboards, which helps the boat’s travel in very shallow water.
- The all-welded hull of the MVJT is stronger, and the use of aluminum as the building material for the entire vessel makes it lighter in weight and more fuel efficient.
What don’t we like about it
- The simple layout of the cabin meant that various additional features required more capital investment.
- These larger boats are a bit more laborious to launch and land.
FAQ
1. How to add buoyancy to a Jon boat?
Boat buoyancy is a common concern for many boat owners. If you notice that your Jon boat is not buoyant enough, you can provide more buoyancy by adding flotation chambers, PVC pipe, foam, or built-in air chambers.
Of course, the easiest way to balance the load on the boat is to move as much of the stern placement to the front as possible, which can also be effective in improving boat buoyancy.
2. How shallow can a Jon boat run?
Generally, a Jon boat can be driven in shallow water from 8 inches to 12 inches. The lower camber and flat bottom construction of the Jon boat is ideal for shallow water, giving it an advantage that is hard for other boats to match.
3. How thick is the aluminum on a Jon boat?
Generally speaking, aluminum boats have hull thicknesses ranging from 0.125 inches to 0.25 inches.
Although the boat will be lighter with thinner aluminum, there will inevitably be overuse that will cause the boat to leak, and durability will be limited. So when shopping for a boat, you need to fully consider your actual situation.

There is also a vertical rod holder next to the console for easy storage of rod equipment. In addition to this, the Tracker Grizzly deck has welded, drained rain channels that facilitate dry storage of gear in the cabin.
Summary
The SeaArk 1872 MV JT CC is great for fishing events with a large number of participants, but of course a boat of this brand will hardly have a big edge in terms of price.
